3:15 PM - 4:30 PM

March 03 - June 23

Club: Bricks Fun (Formerly Young Engineers) (Group 3-7)

Cost: €282.00

The Bricks Fun - Machine Builders program (designed by Tektokids®) teaches students between 6 and 11 years of age basic math, physics, and engineering with motorized LEGO®. By building machines and constructions from LEGO®, the students become familiar with technical and physical principles and see them physically working in the built models.

The models connect to various themes that we will cover during a series of lessons, such as forces, balance and different forms of energy.
The students become familiar with basic mechanical principles such as gears, levers, pulleys, wheels and axles and investigate and test the various applications.
We challenge the children to improve the models according to their own insights and to investigate the possibilities of the materials and knowledge offered. This investigative and designing way of learning appeals to problem-solving thinking, creativity and more 21st century skills.

Objectives
+ Investigate various physical phenomena such as force and movement
+ Develop motor skills
+ Develop spatial insight
+ Follow a working drawing step by step
+ Apply technical principles
+ Explore various forms of energy
+ Investigate constructions that provide stability and strength
+ Learn to apply found solutions in other situations
+ Increase sense of competence
+ Review the process and evaluate

Film Crew Club (group 4-7): Class 1

3:15 PM - 4:30 PM

March 03 - June 23

Club: Film Crew Club (Group 4-7): Class 1

Cost: €314.00

Over the last 10 years, the media landscape has changed dramatically. Social media apps and filmmaking tools have become a fundamental part of our digital lives. Young people learn, socialize, explore their identities and engage with the world using their screens. In response to these developments, Film Crew Club offers hands-on classes in which we work with cameras, iPads and smartphones to explore animation and live action filmmaking. Students get a chance to act, direct, script, film, animate, edit and create special effects in a wide range of media formats. We edit the material created in class and screen final films each week to students. This creates a dynamic feedback loop that empowers both learning and engagement.

Our classes include history lessons that teach students how our media systems have evolved as well as game based exercises in which children are encouraged to ask: who made this? For whom? What messages are being conveyed? How does it make me feel?
Playful, dialogical approaches to these discussions help to engage and empower children. By making and viewing media together, students learn, first hand, how to look at it critically as well as how to engage with it safely and ethically.

Sewing Club (group 4-7)

3:15 PM - 5:00 PM

March 03 - June 23

Club: Sewing Club (Group 4-7)

Cost: €274.00

Hello and welcome to Sewing Club, I’m Kate, the sewing club leader and I guide the students through a huge variety of hand sewing (and some weaving!) projects. Many of the students come back year after year and are always growing in their abilities. Sewing is a lifelong skill to have as well as a creative outlet for boys and girls alike…and especially all budding surgeons ;)  There are many fun projects to choose from during my classes that always expand their creativity once I’ve shown them the basic skills to get them started! We will be exploring several sewing techniques whilst making useful things such as presents as well as decorative and practical items. The tactile nature of hand sewing helps strengthen the child’s hand eye coordination and provide the children with a vehicle for personal and creative expression and has proven to be a calming activity for busy minds. I’ll also be encouraging them to continue their work outside of the club so that they develop a productive activity to engage in in their free time to create independent work.

All equipment and supplies will be provided. The students are welcome to take home the items they make at the club. The club has been thoughtfully developed and planned and is run solely by myself, a well organised, experienced club leader and teacher. I began my love of making at an early age and as a young child could often be found making clothes and rooms/shops/furniture for my dolls rather than 'playing' with them. I continued this love of making and designing through to a BA (hons) degree in fashion and textiles at the University of Westminster and worked for many subsequent years in the fashion industry in London. You can find out more, including information about my school holiday workshops on my website: https://www.moozlehome.com

*Please note, sewing club is a screen free space.
