Drama (Group 1-4)

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

February 26 - July 02

Club: Drama (Group 1-4)

Cost: €333.00

These classes will continue to build drama skills. The classes offer progression on term one and there will be an additional opportunity for class members to sign up to take part in a production of The three little Pigs, that will take place, in a theatre in Amstelveen, in late June on a weekend. As this will happen outside of the normal lesson time you will be given the opportunity to opt in or out of this activity. Term two will continue to adopt a playful but structured approach to developing a sense of understanding of how to perform and communicate ideas, stories, movement and song to an audience.

A greater focus on stagecraft is placed on term 2 lessons. With children learning teamwork on stage, how to build expression, confidence and focus. The lessons will also involve components of musical theatre. The lessons this semester will involve scripted work, so there will be some lines to be learned along the way. As well as building young actors, the lessons provide excellent support to language development, literacy skills and self confidence. It's a great way for a child to learn to express themselves. The club leader, Rachel. Stewart has extensive experience as a writer, director and coach of children's theatre, as well as being an experienced performer and improviser herself. Rachel founded the Active children's theatre group ten years ago and has since mounted around twenty five children's performances in theatres around Amsterdam and Additionally cast many of her students into 30 short films for Hans Cok productions commissioned by Nordhoff. Rachel places great emphasis on developing each child, ultimately even writing parts that extend and challenge them, while playing to their strengths. Shows, mostly written by Rachel, are tailored to every child's ability level. Rachel and her production team offer a tailor made approach to children's theatre. Her young energetic production team are all experienced performers who are fully trained by Rachel in her methods and process. They provide excellent coaching support in vocals, dance and chore acting skills and work alongside Rachel to help realize a final production.

Mini Professors (Group 1-5)

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

February 26 - July 02

Club: Mini Professors (Group 1-5)

Cost: €381.00

Mini Professors is the award winning science program (from the UK), inspiring a new generation through interactive classes in schools, nurseries and in parent and child classes. Our theme tune’s opening line is ‘Science is all around us’, this reflects the ethos of our classes and encourages the children to think about and to explore the world around them. Children have a thirst for knowledge and can understand scientific principles explained in simple terms with fun hands-on experiments in which they can touch, see and hear to help them understand. Natalie van Gelder is owner of WOW Netherlands. At the WOW Family Center in Amsterdam she offers high quality programs for parents and kids.

* We advise you to not register for this course if you have taken this class from September - February this school year. As we will repeat some sessions.

Sewing Club (Group 4-7)

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

February 26 - July 02

Club: Sewing Club (Group 4-7)

Cost: €324.00

At SEWING CLUB we make a variety of items that teach hand-sewing in a fun and creative way for both girls and boys. We will be embarking on a series of projects that reflect the children’s abilities, from beginners to those with some previous sewing experience. There are many fun projects to choose from that really inspire their creativity. Exploring basic sewing techniques whilst making useful presents, decorative and practical items.
The tactile nature of sewing helps strengthen the child’s hand eye co-ordination and the nature of the sewing projects provide the children with a vehicle for personal and creative expression. I’ll also be encouraging them to continue their work outside of the club so that they develop a productive activity to engage in in their free time to create independent work. All equipment and supplies will be provided.

The students can keep and take home the items they make at the club.

Kate is a well organised, experienced leader and teacher. Kate began her love of making at an early age and as a small child was often found making clothes and rooms/shops/furniture for her dolls rather than 'playing' with them. She continued this love of making and designing through to a BA (hons) degree in fashion and textiles at the University of Westminster. After many years of working in the fashion industry in London Kate now runs a successful children's interiors brand specialising in organic cotton bedding made with her own print designs.

You can find out more about this at www.moozlehome.com

Kate loves to encourage creativity by inspiring young people to learn a new skill and see where their creativity can lead them. Everything starts with design. Thinking through an idea, drawing your design, making a pattern, realising the design in 3D, problem solving, creating it and having a finished item to hold in your hand is a valuable life tool.

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

February 26 - July 02

Club: Tony’s Art Group (Group 3-7)

Cost: €286.00

We do painting, drawing, clay work, paper/card work –lots of imaginative work. You can see examples on my website, www.tonychapman-artmusic.com

There is a relaxed atmosphere – making art is fun. I encourage self-expression and freedom in art making – I give a project as a starting point –the most important thing for me is the student’s own interpretation... I‘m always amazed and delighted to see what students come up with. I’ve been running these groups for the last 19 years – at the British School of Amsterdam, ISA and AICS. I have a B.A. Hons Degree in Creative Arts. I am a painter and sculptor. I also teach guitar (privately and at the British School of Amsterdam) and I teach piano(privately). I am English – and have lived in Amsterdam for the last 20 years. I am also a singer/songwriter with my own band, performing in and around Amsterdam. All art materials are provided.
